Equinox vs Rogue side by side comparison image of each car from the outside

Compact SUVs are among the best-selling types of vehicles in America, so it’s no big shocker that every automaker under the sun has at least one standout model. Shoppers now have to sort through dozens of contenders to figure out which one will suit them best—not a bad problem to have, but it can get a bit overwhelming.

We don’t have time to compare them all, but we certainly have time to compare two of the most popular. Here’s how the 2025 Chevy Equinox stacks up against the 2025 Nissan Rogue.

Equinox vs. Rogue Price

First, let’s talk about the bottom line.

The 2025 Equinox is available in three different trims:

  • LT: $28,600
  • RS: $33,000
  • ACTIV: $33,000

The 2025 Rogue has five available trims:

  • S: $28,590
  • SV: $29,590
  • Rock Creek: $33,490
  • SL: $35,090
  • Platinum: $38,590

While they start out at almost the exact same price, the simplified Equinox lineup caps out at $33k, while the Rogue shoots up by over $5,000 for its uppermost trim with the nicest features, which means the Equinox takes the W for value.

Equinox vs. Rogue Performance

The Equinox is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that cranks out 175 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque. That motor is paired with either front-wheel drive and a CVT transmission or all-wheel drive and an 8-speed automatic. It also has a max towing capacity of 1,500 pounds, and it’s rated to get 26 MPG in the city and 28 MPG on the highway.

The Rogue’s engine is a 1.5-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder that puts out 201 horsepower and 225 pound-feet of torque. Buyers get a choice between FWD or AWD, and all models are linked to a CVT transmission. Max towing capacity is also 1,500 pounds, and it’s rated for up to 30 MPG in the city and 37 MPG on the highway.

While they’re both very similar in terms of power and their ability to accelerate to highway speeds, the Rogue gets a slight edge for its fuel economy. Of course, if you’re worried about gas prices, you could always grab an efficient model like the Equinox EV instead.

Equinox vs. Rogue Features

The Equinox benefits big-time from its recent redesign. Despite its modest price point, it comes standard with dual infotainment screens, an 11.0-inch digital driver information cluster and an 11.3-inch LCD center display. It also includes Google built-in, natural voice recognition, SiriusXM®, wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, front and rear USB ports, Wi-Fi hotspot capability, and available wireless phone charging in all but the LT trim.

The Rogue comes standard with an 8.0-inch center screen and Drive-Assist display, while the pricier trims get dual 12.3-inch digital screens to handle infotainment. Standard features include Bluetooth®, SiriusXM®, wired Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, and two USB ports, but you’ll have to buck up for those more expensive trims if you want features like Wi-Fi, Google built-in, and voice recognition.

Both have an impressive list of tech and connectivity features, but the Equinox wins by a landslide for having more standard features, making it the best compact SUV for the money.

Equinox vs. Rogue Safety

As with most modern vehicles, both come with an impressive array of standard safety and driver assistance features. Features shared by the Equinox and Rogue include:

  • Forward collision alert
  • Automatic emergency braking
  • Pedestrian detection
  • Rear cross traffic alert
  • Rear automatic braking
  • Lane departure warning
  • Blind zone warning

However, once again, the Equinox impresses by having a few more standard features that are otherwise optional in the Rogue. Namely, adaptive cruise control, lane change and blind spot steering assist, cyclist detection, and Teen Driver, which gives the Equinox first prize for best SUV for families.
